Welcome Learners!

This week we will see a video about the opening of China’s state-owned television in the U.S. capital city of Washington D.C. After witnessing the creation of Al-Jazeera in English, the Chinese have decided to create their own English language channel and they have hired a team of profesionals to get the job done. As always, after the video, look at the questions for debate.

Enjoy!

Questions for debate in class:

1. What do you think the real reason for this action is?

2. Do you think this will improve U.S. -China relations? Why or why not?

3. Do you think that the Chinese government wants to influence Americans’ opinions about China? Why or why not?

4. What do you think this channel will say about the current situation in Tibet?

As always, we leave you to come up with your own questions!
